Tone Deaf Politicians – Enough With Gas Hikes
Last month, California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law raising car registration fees an addition $170 per year, depending on value of car, and a 12-cent tax on each gallon of gasoline.
This week the California State Legislature is debating raise gasoline prices another 24-73 cents per gallon, under a program they call Cap-and-Trade.
This entire discussion on raising gas prices is happening during a time when homelessness is on the rise, crimes are increasing, large employers like Sears are closing hundreds of stores, and there are growing fears of a new recession.
Here are some state legislators who are mulling over increasing the gallon of gasoline by another 24-73 cents: Dr. Jaoquin “#BadMedicine” Arambula (Fresno), Raul Bocanegra (San Fernando), Ian Calderon (City of Industry), Sabrina Cervantes (Corona), Ed Chau (Monterey Partk), Cristina Garcia (Downey), Edwardo Garcia (Cochella), Mike Gipson (Compton), Todd Gloria (San Diego), Reginald Byron Jones-Sawyer (Los Angeles), Ash Karla (San Jose), Joe Medina (Perris), Al Muratsuchi (Torrance), Adrin Nazarian (Van Nuys), Patrick O’Donnell (Long Beach), Sharon Quirk-Silva (Buena Park), Anthony Rendon (South Gate), Eloise Gomez Reyes (Fontana), Sebastian Ridley-Thomas (Los Angeles), Freddie Rodriguez (Chino), Blanca Rubio (West Covina), Rudy Salas (Hanford), Miguel Santiago (Los Angeles), Tony Thurmond (Oakland) and Shirley Weber (San Diego).
Enough with the gas hikes. Our struggling working class communities can’t continue to take this economic punishment.
