American Latino Culture and the use of Spanglish
Latinos are one of the fastest growing populations in the United States and their influence can be felt in many places. Latinos in the United States often have a habit of using Spanish and English interchangeably, which people call this habit speaking Spanglish. The reason for this is that Latinos grow up with two cultures and two languages. Many Latinos speak Spanish at home with their parents and friends, but they speak English with people outside of their community. When people understand both Spanish and English, swapping languages, sometimes in the middle of a sentence, seems natural.
Some linguistic experts may frown upon the use of Spanglish, but Spanglish may not be such a bad thing. Spanglish is definitely showing the impact of a new culture that influences Latinos in the United States, as well as in Latino countries. Spanglish has become a defining feature of Latino culture in the United States. Who knows that the future of Spanglish may be, it might even become its own language in the future as more Latino countries become influenced by American culture and vice versa.
